The"2009 China Symposium On Public Economics" and the "2009 International Conference on Public Economics and Administration” was held successfully in XiamenUniversity on November 28th and 29th, 2009. This forum was hosted by School of Economics of XiamenUniversity and Editorial department of Economic Research, and co-organized by Department of Public Economics, School of Economics, XiamenUniversity.
Nearly three hundred experts, scholars and outstanding young scholars, who had achivements in the research of the public economic and administration field, gathered at Xiamen University and had a deep discussion on the current hot issues. These participants are from the International Monetary Fund, the International Association of Public Finance, University of Cambridge, San Francisco State University, Keio University in Japan, Korea Development Institute and the Indian National Council of Applied Economic Research, the Chinese Ministry of Education, Academy of Social Sciences, the National Tax Administration, Zhejiang University, Zhongshan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, Shandong University, Renmin University of China, Xiamen University, Tongji University, China Agricultural University, Hunan University, Shanghai University of Finance, Central University of Finance, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics , and Xiamen National Accounting Institute and other units.
Many reputed scholars were invited to make keynote speeches in the forum. They are Professor James Mirrlees from Cambridge University, who won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1996,Vito Tanzi, former director of Fiscal Affairs Department of IMF, former president and current Honorary President of the International Association of Public Finance, Professor Howell H. Zee from School of Economics ,Xiamen University, ex-consultant of Fiscal Affairs Department of IMF, former head of Tax Policy Division, Professor Naoyuki Yoshino from Keio University, member of Japan's Financial System Committee and Chairman of Exchange Commission, Wonhyuk Lim, director of development cooperation department of Korea Development Institute; Kanhaiya Singh, advanced fellow of the Indian National Council of Applied Economic Research, Shucheng Liu , CASS academician, former editor of Economic Research, Xin Zhang, president of School of Economics, Xiamen University, Junpei Wu, vice president of Wuhan University.
